Take Your Therapy Outside — Walk, Sit, and Connect

Sometimes a change of scenery is all it takes to feel grounded, creative, and connected. Outdoor Therapy offers a gentle yet powerful way to experience counseling outside the office. Sessions take place in nature or local community settings, where movement, mindfulness, and the environment come together to support your healing. Being outdoors allows therapy to feel more relaxed and embodied, helping you feel grounded, present, and connected.

Why Outdoor Therapy?

  • Movement can help us process emotions. Walking side-by-side can make opening up feel more natural, and physical movement can help release stress and tension.

  • Nature supports nervous system regulation. Being outdoors can help calm anxiety and increase a sense of peace and clarity.

  • We can connect in-person. Some people deeply value the connection of meeting face-to-face. Outdoor therapy offers the opportunity to do that.

  • It can feel more relaxing than sitting face-to-face. For some, sitting in a traditional office can feel intimidating or too formal. Being outside can feel more relaxed.

  • The beauty of Colorado Springs can be part of your healing. Whether it’s the fresh air, mountain views, or quiet trails, nature offers a soothing and grounding presence.

What to Expect

Outdoor Therapy sessions are approximately 45 minutes and take place at local trails, parks, paths, or community spaces. During your consultation, we will determine if Outdoor Therapy is a good fit for your goals. Sessions may include walking, sitting, or meeting in semi-public spaces, depending on your needs and comfort.

Your safety and privacy are a top priority. While sessions take place in public or semi-public settings, we take steps to protect confidentiality and ensure your comfort. You may:

  • Request to move to a more private location if needed

  • Postpone discussion of sensitive topics

  • Modify, slow down, or pause any activity at any time

In the event of inclement weather, sessions may be moved to telehealth, and standard cancellation policies still apply.
