EMDR Consultation for Therapists

Collaborative, relational EMDR consultation to help you move beyond the standard protocol and thoughtfully adapt EMDR to your clients and clinical approach.

A cozy office with a couch, table, natural light, and plants.

Consultation That Meets You Where You Are

Whether you're newer to EMDR, looking to expand your clinical approach, working toward EMDRIA certification, or navigating a challenging case, consultation is tailored to your experience, goals, and the questions you're bringing.

My approach is relational, collaborative, and flexible. I want consultation to feel like a space where you can think out loud, ask questions, and work through uncertainty without feeling like there's one right way to do things. You don’t need to come with perfectly formulated questions. Together, we'll build on your existing strengths, explore new perspectives, think through cases, and consider how to adapt EMDR to fit both you and your clients.

My goal is for you to leave each consultation with something you can take back into your practice. That might mean a new intervention to try, a different way of conceptualizing a case, a deeper understanding of an EMDR approach, or greater confidence in navigating a clinical challenge. Together, we'll focus on expanding your skills and helping you feel more equipped to work with the clients you already serve.

What We Can Explore in Consultation

  • Mastering the Standard Protocol

Deepen your understanding of the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model, the three-pronged approach, the eight phases of EMDR, and the clinical decisions that guide effective treatment.

  • Adapting EMDR to Your Clients

Move beyond a one-size-fits-all approach by thoughtfully adapting EMDR to clients' needs, readiness, and clinical presentation while maintaining fidelity to the model.

  • Case Conceptualization & Target Planning

Organize client history, presenting concerns, strengths, and patterns through an EMDR lens to guide treatment planning, identify appropriate targets, and determine the most helpful sequence for reprocessing.

  • Complex Cases & Stuck Processing

Troubleshoot challenges such as complex trauma, blocked or stalled processing, and clients who aren't responding as expected. Explore clinical considerations and ways to navigate obstacles when treatment isn't progressing.

  • Dissociation, Resourcing & Preparation

Explore considerations for working with dissociative symptoms, strengthening stabilization and preparation, and developing resources that support client readiness for EMDR processing.

  • Advanced Techniques for Anxiety & Future Fears

Expand your clinical toolkit with approaches for anticipatory anxiety, panic, phobias, present triggers, and feared future scenarios.

  • Parts-Informed & Integrative EMDR

Explore ways to integrate the approaches you already use in your practice, whether that's IFS and parts work, polyvagal-informed therapy, or other therapeutic modalities. Build on your existing strengths and develop an approach that feels authentic to your clinical style while remaining grounded in the EMDR framework.

  • Integrating Faith & Spirituality

Thoughtfully incorporate Christian counseling, faith, and spiritual resources into EMDR when desired by the therapist and appropriate for the client's beliefs, needs, and treatment goals.

I’m Michaela Zoppa, MA, LPC, an EMDRIA Certified Therapist and EMDRIA Approved Consultant-in-Training. My clinical work focuses on helping women navigate anxiety, complex trauma, perfectionism, burnout, and the patterns that keep them feeling stuck. I also offer EMDR intensives for a focused approach.

My approach to EMDR is integrative, relational, and parts-informed. I'm particularly interested in helping therapists think beyond a rigid, one-size-fits-all approach and explore how EMDR can be thoughtfully adapted to meet each client's needs.

I enjoy helping therapists build on the skills they already have, consider new perspectives, and develop greater confidence in their clinical decision-making. My hope is that consultation feels like a collaborative space where you can ask questions, work through challenges, and leave with new ideas to bring into your practice.
