IFS-Informed EMDR Therapy Intensives

Find lasting relief in a matter of days, not months or years.

You’re ready for something to change.

You’re tired of carrying the weight of anxiety, self-doubt, and past trauma. You’ve tried weekly therapy and every strategy to “heal,” but progress still feels slow and fragmented. An intensive creates space for meaningful change and lasting relief in a short, intentional period. You can finally release what’s been keeping you stuck and step into a greater sense of calm, confidence, and clarity.

What is an Intensive?

An intensive is a longer therapy session or a series of sessions designed to help you make meaningful progress in a condensed timeframe. Instead of spreading your work over weeks or months, we focus deeply and intentionally over a full-day or multi-day format so you can start feeling lighter, clearer, and more like yourself in a matter of days. Intensives can take the form of a full day (6–8 hours), multiple half days, or multiple full days, giving you flexibility based on your goals and needs.

This allows you to:

  • Go deeper without being rushed. Spend focused, uninterrupted time with your inner parts, working through stuck patterns and trauma in a safe, supportive space.

  • Stay fully focused on your goals. No weekly check-ins or re-orienting, just concentrated work on what matters most to you.

  • Maintain momentum and clarity. Make the most of your focused time, staying in the deep work and moving through stuck points more quickly.

  • Save time in the long run. By compressing the work, you often need fewer sessions overall while achieving meaningful results.

What is IFS-Informed EMDR?

IFS-Informed EMDR combines two powerful, evidence-based approaches: Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). These approaches are modalities that help you heal trauma, shift stuck patterns, and rebuild your sense of clarity and calm.

  • IFS helps people understand and connect with the different “parts” of themselves. Rather than viewing thoughts, feelings, or behaviors as random or dysfunctional, IFS helps you see them as meaningful and protective, even if they can cause distress.

    IFS helps you:

    • Get to know and care for the parts of you that carry pain or try to protect you

    • Build compassion, clarity, confidence, and calm

    • Unburden the parts of you that carry past wounds, shame, or overwhelm

  • EMDR helps the brain process distressing memories so they no longer feel as overwhelming or triggering. Instead of getting stuck in the emotional intensity of past experiences, EMDR allows your brain and body to process those memories in a more grounded way. Through this process, your brain can “re-file” the experience so it feels less present-day and more like something that happened in the past—helping you feel more regulated, resilient, and at peace.

Who are Intensives For?

IFS-Informed EMDR intensives may be a good fit if you:

  • Feel stuck in your healing, even after past therapy

  • Have a specific issue, memory, or pattern you’re ready to work through quickly

  • Prefer focused, goal-directed work instead of ongoing weekly sessions

  • Want deep, meaningful healing without months of weekly appointments

  • Have done IFS or EMDR before and want to go deeper

  • Do not have time to commit to regular ongoing therapy sessions

  • Feel stuck even after trying all the things

How Can an Intensive Help?

An intensive is designed to help you process trauma, release stuck patterns, and gain insight into yourself. It’s a chance to work safely and intentionally with the parts of you that have been holding you back, so you can feel tangible relief more quickly than traditional weekly therapy. With an intensive, you can:

  • Process trauma and emotional blocks. EMDR helps reduce the emotional charge of memories and experiences, supporting healing on both a mental and somatic level.

  • Understand your inner system. IFS helps you connect with and care for the different parts of yourself, including the ways your body carries unprocessed emotions.

  • Experience relief and calm. Process intense emotions safely and let go of what’s been weighing you down.

  • Identify and break repetitive patterns. Gain insight into and work through the behaviors, thought cycles, and body-based responses that have kept you stuck.

  • Build confidence in your healing. See and feel changes happening in a matter of days, creating momentum and clarity that lasts.

  • Live with greater ease and clarity. Feel more grounded, present, and in tune with yourself every day.

What Happens During an Intensive?

Step 1: Schedule a 30-Minute Consultation

The first step is to schedule a free consultation, so I can understand your needs, clarify your goals, and answer any questions. We’ll talk through the format and length of the intensive that will best support your healing. If an intensive feels like the right fit, we’ll schedule your pre-intensive preparation session.

Step 2: Schedule Your Intensive & Receive Your Workbook

Once you schedule your intensive, you’ll receive a personalized workbook with exercises and reflections to help you clarify priorities, set intentions, and track insights. You’ll engage with different sections of the workbook before, during, and after your intensive to support your healing journey every step of the way.

Step 3: 90-Minute Pre-Intensive Preparation Session

Once you’ve completed the first part of your workbook, we’ll meet for a 90-minute preparation session. During this time, we’ll dive deeper into your goals and hopes for the intensive, reflect on your workbook insights, and get ready for focused, in-depth work. You’ll also learn coping strategies to prevent overwhelm and feel confident going into the intensive.

Step 4: The Intensive

Your intensive can be structured as a 6–8 hour full day, multiple half days, or multiple full days, depending on your needs and goals. In this focused time, we’ll dive deeply into IFS-informed EMDR work: processing trauma, connecting with your inner parts, and moving through stuck patterns in a safe, supportive environment. This concentrated approach creates space for meaningful healing and progress in a shorter timeframe.

Step 5: 90-Minute Follow-Up Session

After the intensive, we check in to integrate insights, process any lingering experiences, and solidify the progress you’ve made. This session helps ensure your breakthroughs and healing lasts long beyond the intensive.

Step 6: Continue Healing with Curated Resources

You’ll receive tailored exercises, tools, and guidance to maintain momentum and continue your healing journey. These resources support ongoing growth and help you sustain the changes you’ve made.

Intensive FAQs

  • Intensives are a great fit if you want to go deeper, faster, and with more focused support than weekly therapy allows. If you’ve hit a plateau in regular therapy, have a specific issue you want to target, or prefer fewer but more impactful sessions, an intensive may be ideal. We’ll talk more about this in your initial consultation to be sure it’s the right fit.

  • Intensives are flexible and tailored to your needs. You can schedule a full day (6–8 hours), multiple half days, or multiple full days. During your consultation, we’ll decide together which structure best supports your healing.

  • Each intensive includes:

    • 90-minute pre-intensive preparation session

    • Personalized, guided workbook

    • Intensive session(s) ranging from a full day to multiple days

    • 90-minute follow-up session

    • Curated resources to support continued healing

  • Intensives are private pay and not billed through insurance. Rates vary depending on length. While each intensive is fully customizable, common options include:

    • 6-hour full day: $1,575

    • Three 3-hour days: $2,100

    • Three 6-hour days: $3,675

Additional hours can be added at $175 per hour. Evening and weekend scheduling may be available at a premium rate.

  • In weekly therapy, much of the hour is spent checking in, easing into deeper work, and then winding down, all within a limited timeframe. Intensives give us the space to stay in the deeper work for longer stretches, leading to more momentum and processing. Intensives can also reduce the overall number of sessions needed. (Plus, the standard weekly therapy hour? That’s mostly an insurance-driven structure.)

  • No, you don’t need to be a current client to do an intensive. I offer intensives as a standalone service for new clients as well as current or returning clients.

  • No, you don’t need to live in Colorado to participate in an intensive.

Many clients choose to travel to Colorado Springs—a beautiful place to visit—for their intensive. If you're coming from out of town, I'm happy to provide recommendations for accommodations, local activities, and more.

Virtual intensives are also available; however, you must be physically located in the state of Colorado at the time of the intensive due to licensing laws.

  • Some clients feel like they have met their therapy goals after an intensive. Others benefit from follow-up sessions or working with a weekly therapist for continued support. It truly depends on your goals and background. I offer follow-up sessions and am also happy to coordinate care if you're working with another provider.

  • The first step is to schedule a free 30-minute consultation designed specifically for intensives. During this call, we’ll discuss your goals, review your questionnaire responses, and determine if an intensive is the best fit for you. After that, we’ll plan the format and schedule that works best for your needs.
